Body Phase Studio is a pioneering non-profit cross-cultural arts organisation in Taiwan. Founded in 1991 by Wang Mo-lin — a pioneer of Taiwan’s little-theatre movement — it aims, as its name suggests, to explore all possible expressions of the body, including in various spaces such as streets and interiors. Before 1995, amid a shortage of performance art spaces, Body Phase Studio began developing many venues for performances and exhibitions; from 1995 onward, it opened diverse international exchange programmes. Now nearly two decades old, it has become a representative organisation connecting Taiwan to international artistic creation resources and contexts, and a key group in launching Taiwan’s little-theatre movement.
