“Harmony” (和) Party emerged at a time when outdoor rave parties were being forced to shut down one by one. The founding core was just three people working respectively in electronic music, film, and sound: Lin Chiang, Wang Keng-yu, and A-bin. By chance they organised the first Harmony Party at the riverbank park under the Huachung Bridge, with no venue permit — which drew a visit from the police. “Harmony” champions the autonomy of music; its monthly gatherings function like a regular ceremony or rite of passage. In the party, no individual is the focus; what matters is the music drawing everyone’s hearts into a deeper, freer sonic atmosphere.
