On September 3 and 4, 1965, an unusual atmosphere hung over the Kuang Chi Program Service in Taipei’s Roosevelt Road Section 3. Inside this school affiliated with the French Catholic Church, Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot (En attendant Godot) was translated into Chinese and performed in Taiwan for the first time. According to reports, only one audience member stayed until the very end.
