The “Gangnam Style” music video holds many records. It won YouTube’s Best Music Video and Most Popular Video of 2012 in numerous countries and was the first music video in history to surpass 1 billion views. Two years on, rather than fading, its view count kept climbing until YouTube’s counter could no longer handle it. When the click count broke the 2.1 billion mark — a volume so high that YouTube’s systems were overwhelmed — YouTube issued a special statement on PSY’s official channel.
