The Taiwan Music Writing Team was convened by freelance music critic Tsai Cheng-chung (pen name: Maguai). The team was founded with the aim of stimulating audiences to listen, write, and discuss music through collective writing — capturing passionate traces that have never received media exposure, recording them in words. The team operates by having Tsai Cheng-chung seek out serious music writers online, helping them publish on the team’s blog, Facebook page, and in print media, increasing the chances that their work will be read.
By 2016, the team had recruited nearly forty writers and produced over a hundred pieces of writing on local Taiwanese music, hoping to preserve writing that cares about local music creation through a website, in an era when print music magazines have disappeared.
