Following the same year’s Spring Scream in Kenting, the first Wild Stage Rock (Yeh-t’ai K’ai-ch’ang) was held in 1995 at Taipei City Hall Plaza and Da’an Forest Park; it has since become Taiwan’s most internationally prominent music festival and an important stage for Taiwan’s bands. Wild Stage Rock initially launched in 1995 under the name of the “Northern University Rock Alliance” at NTU’s main gate with the event “Rock Won’t Die, Roll Won’t Fall”; the following year it officially adopted the name “Wild Stage Rock” and hosted a one-day event in front of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. In 1998, organising duties were passed to Freddy of Chthonic; venues subsequently moved between Da’an Forest Park, Chung-shan Football Field, and the Children’s Recreation Centre, becoming an annual summer music highlight.
