The arrival of Pro Tools condensed an entire recording studio into a computer and an audio interface. In 1989, digital designers Peter Gotcher and Evan Brooks released a piece of software for Mac called Sound Tools for digital recording and post-production editing; but in 1991, when it evolved into Pro Tools with multi-track recording and streamlined workflow, music production suddenly became dramatically less difficult. This allowed young music producers to complete quality recordings at lower cost, and professional producers to finish post-production on an album far more quickly.
