The cross-disciplinary curatorial module “Polyphonic Mosaic” within Co6 Taiwan Avant-Garde Document Exhibition: Du (Do) was organised by the curatorial team “Honey Blue激隊” (composed of Nien Li-wen, Kuo Chao-lan, and Wu Tsan-cheng). Through this exhibition, they hoped to undertake a thoroughgoing reassessment and survey of sound art in Taiwan.
The exhibition drew on Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of “polyphony” to emphasise its heteroglossic, dialogic character. It brought together sound artists from different generations: Dino (Liao Ming-ho), who had long pursued analog noise as his creative path; *Noise Magazine* Steve (Chen Shih-ti), active in Taichung; and Yao Chung-han, a highly active young artist at the time.
