The “2004 International Technology Arts Festival” was curated by Yao Ta-chün. Taking the literal meaning of “sonar” — sending out a soundwave and, through the signal that returns, determining spatial position — the festival aimed to fire exploratory, vanguard work into society and complete an artistic ecological structure through social interaction and feedback. The festival invited more than twenty of the most representative figures in the global multimedia arts world to perform together, and was at the time regarded as the highest-quality international new media technology arts exhibition in Taiwan’s history.
