Stephen Wong began his DJ career in 1981 and has been spinning records ever since. The venue that launched his career as a DJ was Diana — reputedly Taiwan’s very first underground disco, located on Linsen North Road. Diana was situated at the intersection of Linsen North Road and Minsheng East Road in Taipei. Its origins were actually connected to the nightclub of the Hua-kuo Grand Hotel. At the time, when the partnership between the hotel and the nightclub expired and was not renewed, the original nightclub team relocated to Linsen North Road and opened a Western restaurant called Diana. In practice, however, the heart of Diana’s operations was not the restaurant but a disco — the legendary first underground dance club in all of Taiwan.
