1981年，華國大飯店與夜總會的合作到期且不再續約，夜總會的原班人馬於林森北路開了這家名叫Diana（黛安娜）的西餐廳。但其並非供餐，而是一家Disco舞廳，也正是傳說中的全台第一家地下舞廳。 In 1981, when the Imperial Hotel's nightclub contract expired, the original nightclub team opened a restaurant called Diana on Linsen North Road. It did not actually serve food — it was a disco, and the legendary first underground dance hall in Taiwan.
卡拉OK伴唱機1971年由日本樂師井上大佑發明，取代了傳統的「那卡西」。1981年時引進台灣，由於價格昂貴，早年多為日式酒店內供客人玩樂，1990年代末期價格大幅下降後，才打入家庭市場。 Karaoke was invented in 1971 by Japanese musician Daisuke Inoue, replacing the traditional Nakashi street performers. Introduced to Taiwan in 1981, the expensive equipment was initially found only in Japanese-style clubs. It wasn't until prices dropped dramatically in the late 1990s that karaoke entered the home market.
