The first Spring Scream was organised from 1995 onward at Kenting by two Americans resident in Taiwan, Jimi and Wade. From a small-scale get-together, it gradually expanded into the celebration of over a hundred bands it is today. The performing bands evolved from mostly covering songs to becoming increasingly a platform for underground bands — widely regarded as one of the founding events of Taiwan’s music festival scene.
