In 1996, DJ @llen — then Taiwan’s most prominent DJ — served as music director at the newly opened EDGE club and co-organised with EDGE the first large-scale outdoor rave in Taiwan, Taipei Tribal Massive, at Meihua Lake in Hsindian. After 10 pm that evening, local police invoked the Assembly and Parade Act, citing the event’s lack of an application permit, and demanded the event end; the organiser ultimately decided to stop playing music.
